‘UPSC Is A Test Of Mental Strength’: IAS Officer Shares Key Advice For Aspirants

UPSC Civil Services Exam preparation is often seen as a test of knowledge. IAS officer Pari Bishnoi believes the journey also demands strong mental strength. Sharing advice for aspirants, she said confidence and belief in one’s preparation can make a major difference. Pari Bishnoi, who secured All India Rank 30 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, is currently serving as an Additional District Magistrate in Sikkim. Her recent message has resonated with many aspirants preparing for one of India’s toughest competitive examinations.

Speaking in a video shared on Instagram by photographer Ankit Kumar, Pari spoke about the pressure aspirants often feel while preparing for the UPSC exam.

She said that when she started her own preparation, she also wondered whether she could succeed while seeing talented students around her. However, she came from an ordinary school and college background and continued to trust herself.

According to Pari, confidence and belief are important parts of UPSC preparation. Aspirants should not allow the achievements of others to make them doubt their own potential.

The IAS officer also pointed out that aspirants often make the competition appear bigger in their minds than it actually is. She said, “The competition is more in our head…the real competition is actually very very less. People who are actually preparing are very less. We sometimes get troubled by the pressure around us.”

She encouraged candidates to focus on their own preparation rather than constantly comparing themselves with others.

Pari further said, “If you are preparing sincerely, its not that tough as it appears. It’s a mental game. UPSC is not just about clearing an exam. It’s a test of your mental strength and belief in yourself.”

Her message offers a simple reminder: UPSC preparation is not only about how much you study, but also about how strongly you believe in yourself.
