Pune:

A 14-year-old girl, the daughter of NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar’s personal assistant (PA), was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Baramati in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Avani Ajit Dashavatare, daughter of Ajit Dashavatare, who serves as Rohit Pawar’s personal assistant. Her body was found near her residence on Sunday morning.

According to preliminary information, Avani had a minor argument with her mother over an issue on Saturday night and left home in anger. When she did not return, her family approached the police and lodged a missing person complaint.

Later, her body was found by the roadside near her home. Police officials rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident.

The body was sent to Baramati Government Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Cause Of Death Yet To Be Determined

Police said the exact cause of death is yet to be established and that an investigation is underway from all possible angles.

While the possibility of suicide is being considered at the initial stage, officials have not ruled out any other angle, including murder. The post-mortem report is expected to help determine the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.

“The police have launched an investigation into the case and are examining all possible angles,” a senior police official said, news agency PTI reported.

Rohit Pawar Visits Hospital, Seeks Answers

After learning about the incident, Rohit Pawar immediately reached the Government Medical College and Hospital and reviewed the situation.

Expressing grief over the death, the MLA said the incident had left him shocked and raised concerns about the functioning of the police and the Home Department.

He said, “Ajit has been working with me since my Zilla Parishad days. It is difficult to understand how such an incident could happen to a child of such a young age. I have spoken to the police and doctors. There should be no negligence in the post-mortem process.”

Pawar said he was waiting for the police investigation to be completed and urged authorities to ensure that the truth comes out without any lapses.

“We are waiting for the police investigation to be completed. The police must reveal the truth without any negligence. If there has been any lapse in the way the police handled the matter, it will come at a cost to them,” Pawar added.
